Some things I love about October...
- Fall foliage! We've just reached the peak in color here in New England, and if you live anywhere else, you should be jealous. ;) Oh yes, and the sun always casts the most gorgeous shadows across the road, shooting through the colorful trees like stained-glass windows. That is, when it's not raining...
- The chill. While feeling freezing isn't always fun, that nippy breeze that hints of winter is rather refreshing. It makes everything smell so nice and crisp!
- Chai tea and hot cocoa. Warm drinks are such a wonderful, therapeutic part of the season. This all-natural powdered chai from Trader Joe's is my favorite. :)
- Pumpkins! and other fall decor. I carved a pheonix on my pumpkin this year and displayed it in my new space until the thing decided to go moldy on me. Now it's taken up residence on the front porch. You can see a picture here at my TwitPic page.
- Clothing. We've already touched on sweaters, but boots, scarves, knee-socks, and fingerless-gloves are equally lovely. And I adore layering!
Any special times or traditions you're family or friends share?
Speaking of layering, one of the fun things about the season change is how you can take your clothes from summer into fall. This skirt, which I re-fashioned back in April (click here for the tutorial) is too short to wear with bare legs in the fall... unless you don't have any trouble staying warm. (I'm usually freezing!) So I brought it into the fall season with the addition of some fun knee socks (in my favorite teal shade, of course). The cropped sweater/hoodie became a good friend of mine last year, as did the flats (also in teal). I just love feeling comfy and cozy without sacrificing fun pieces!
What I'm Wearing:
- Grey sweater with hood by Loca Loca- hand-me-down (I get random clothes from other people a lot, if you haven't noticed that already!)
- Black camisole by SO - from Kohls
- Denim skirt by Mossimo Supply Co. - hand-me-down - re-fashioned by me
- Teal knee-socks by SimplyVera/Vera Wang - from Kohls (I got them at the end of the season for $1.40 :)
- Teal shoes by Mossimo Supply Co. - from Target
- Jewelry by random - necklace from the Dominican Republic, bracelet was a Christmas present, ring came from somewhere ;)
Nah. I'm only young once, and plenty of people have thought I'm sixteen, so I may as well dress the part. ;) I've always identified and been friends with people who are younger than me anyway.
So, I guess the important question is... what are YOU wearing today? :)

Awesome! Love the colorful layers. And I totally agree with your list. I've already started chugging the chai and hot cocoa!
I totally LOVE your outfit! Soo cute and lovely.
Hey Amanda! You haven't posted an outfit in FORVER! Welcome back!
I Think the outfits cute, but I'm 16 so...what do I know? My mom says I try to dress her "too young" so obviously I'm not an authority on that subject! :)
I do think that maybe a red cardigan/sweater would look better (but thats just my personal prefrence) I love that skirt though! Did you ever post a tutorial on how you made that?

Aw! I love your outfit, Amanda! =) And don't worry about looking too young. I'm always being mistaken for younger and most of my friends are younger then me. =)
My favorite things about autumn are the following.
1. Wearing boots, scarfs, fingerless gloves, knee-socks, hats, and sweaters.
2. Apple cider & doughnuts.
3. The fall colors.
4. College football games & playing football with my family.
Now as to what I'm wearing today.
My Audrey Hepburn inspired-dress as a jumper, http://bramblewoodfashion.blogspot.com/2010/04/what-im-wearing-audrey-grace-style.html, with a cream turtleneck, and brown knee-socks.

Fall is absolutely my favorite time of the year. Sweaters, jackets, scarves, beautiful leaves...
And a fashion question...
What to wear with open-back clogs? They're so in right now and I love them, but it's getting chilly! ;-) Is it ok to wear them with socks (like anklets) or tights or what? I'd love some advice...I've googled it but no one seems to know. ;-)
I can never say it enough - I LOVE FALL!! I like your grey sweater and teal tights.
Today I wore jeans with a turquoise shirt under a cream cardigan. I tied the colors together with my favorite cream scarf that has turquoise, green, purple stripes. It was comfy:)
I like to mix it up too--it's fun wearing classy pieces as well as funky :)
I love your sweater!! Have one almost the same style. I am wearing, a tea shirt, jeans, and sweatshirt. Thst`s what I love about fall! Sweatshirts! No coats!
Such a unique skirt and it looks so cute on you!

What a cute outfit Amanda!I has a very "fallish" look to it.
I love the sweater too.
We used to live in New England too, so I know what I am jealous of, and jealous I am :) Nothing can beat the color of the foliage and the smell of the ocean!
Have a great night, Amanda.

Yay for fall! I think one of my favorite cold weather items is a pair of vintage (1970's) carmel leather Frye Boots. Love 'em!
@Alexandra: for clogs try wearing really fun tights or tall socks. My sister likes to showcase her funky sock collection under long pants (she claims somedays are just "red penguin sock days"!) Or wear them with no socks at all. I hope that helps.

Natasha - I know! I really want to better in the outfit post department. ;) You must have missed the tutorial link, but here it is: http://amandabethonline.blogspot.com/2010/04/diy-fashionista-denim-and-ruffle-skirt.html
Ashley - I forgot about the cider and doughnuts! And I do like watching those hunky Patriots on occasion. ;) I like the outfit! :)
Alexandra - I think that Abbe just gave you some great suggestions! I'd definitely just go with whatever you like! Socks with pants are fine, and tights or pretty stockings are best with dresses. :)
The First Words - Oh yum. That sounds like a sweet outfit. :)
Rosie - YOU LEFT??? Aw, so sad. :( I hope you like where you live now. :)
Rachel - Thank you! Nice to see you around on the blog! :) (Wasn't that a sweet wedding? :D )
Thank you all for the great comments! I so enjoy reading them! :)
Great post, Amanda! It makes me feel so fallish ;-)
I love hot chocolate and chai too!
My favorite things about fall are:

3. boots, especially ugs (i can't afford the real ones, but I have ones that LOOK like them!), scarves, and big comfy sweatshirts!
4. Soup and warm bread
