Hooray! It's here! December is, in my opinion, "the most wonderful time of the year." We had an extra special day yesterday, not only welcoming the new month, but welcoming my newest nephew, Henry James, into our family. (You may remember that his big brother, Jack was born two years ago, on December 3rd.) He's a precious sweetheart, and I'll share a picture as soon as I find one where he doesn't look like an old man. ;)
Anyway, December is here, and I am so ready to relax and enjoy it. Here's just a handful of my favorite things about this month...
The visitors playing in the snow. Every year, watching the blood-red cardinals flitting through the bushes in our backyard just gives me a thrill...
Mittens. Gloves may be more stylish, but if, like me, you lose circulation the moment you step out the door, you really want to keep your fingers all cuddled together. That's the only way mine stay cozy on a ski mountain.
All those treats that we'll eat. 'Tis the season for an expanding waistline. Please practice moderation.
Brown paper packages tied up with string. Really, there are loads of creative, easy, and visually stunning ways to wrap your gifts this year. Click here for some more ideas.
Angels in the snow.
Hot chocolate, marshmallows and candy canes. Need I say more?
The anticipation building...
GIVEAWAYS!!!
That's right, there's some super awesome, super fashiony ones coming up here at AmandaBeth. Check back over the next few days for more details... trust me, you won't want to miss these. :)
A free track from one of my favorite bands, The Civil Wars. O Come, O Come Emmanuel is haunting anytime, but they take it to another level entirely. Download your own copy!
The TRUE meaning of Christmas. It's even more of a big deal than Doctor Seuss let on. I'm so thankful for the extra special reminder each year of what Jesus did for me.

I love the snow! As long as I don't have to go anywhere, that is. It's such a nice change from the grey November days and it makes everything clean and sparkling outside.
The name of your new nephew is so cute! Was it inspired by the author?
Something I love about Christmas-tide: the lights! Outdoors, of course, and also candles inside.
Thanks for the delightful post!
~Hannah
Audrey - No, actually my sister and her husband didn't even know about the author until I pointed it out. :P "James" is the name my mom always wanted to use if she had another boy, and "Henry" they just liked. ;)
Hannah - Oh yes, LIGHTS! They are definitely one of the best things about the season. :)
I definitely agree! This IS the most wonderful time of the year! :)

P.S. I would so love if you would consider joining the life.is.sweet encouragement movement! :)
I love this time of the year. December will always be a magical season for me! I love the smell of apple pie and coffee when I walk into my mom's house. I love watching snowflakes dance towards the ground. I love shopping, making gifts, baking and everything else that is so lovely about this season!!
Congratulations on your new nephew. He is a beautiful baby boy!! I can't wait to meet him....in a very short while, too!! Can't wait to see ALL of you!! Love, Auntie Karen P.S. Sweet post!
I agree wiht you, Audrey: the snow is lovely as long as one can stay home all cozy. Love the twinkle lights - there are likely way too many inside my house by the time Christmas days rolls around. I watch lots of Christmas movies and listen to a lot of Christmas music - fun times. =)
Great pics., Amanda! And CONGRATS to your sister and brother-in-law on their new arrival.
I admit, I don't like the cold at all. But the snow and Christmas, the hot chocolate, the FOOD, and the holiday spirit definitely make up for it!
Oh and I love mittens!
Siriana - Thanks for the invite! Unfortunately, my busy schedule can keep me from posting every week, and I also have to tackle other topics... but I just LOVE the idea! Keep it up!
Marie - Apple Pie!!! :) I agree, the smell of yummies baking is one of the best things about the season!
Auntie Karen - Yay! I can't wait to see you!!!
Rissi - Thank you!
ThinkGreenLovePurple - I love the cold, as long as I can come inside to a cozy house! ;) Unfortunately, trying to be frugal keeps me from turning the heat up as high as I'd like. :P Sweaters and fingerless gloves are my uniform!
I love the snow as that is winter and also that makes it feel like christmas. we have had three small falls but nothing lasted. Loved the bird pictures. Come see my blog and follow it. On the side is a another page to my blog which is a giveaway page. Check it out!! Have a great day.
