Tonight I'm wrapping up the last of my Pre-Fall 2012 collection posts (unless I happen to stumble upon another designer that deserves to be featured ;), and the looks I'm showcasing here were actually the first of any of the lines to catch my eye. Erdem's collections often include bright floral prints and ladylike silhouettes that are reminiscent of the 1960s, and these are no exception.
Blue and yellow are a beautiful and eye-catching combination, and it's strange that more women don't pair them together. Blue is perenially popular (I've had a love affair with it since I was a little girlie), but yellow has always been under-appreciated. These two looks bring both colors together for a stunning effect. The embroidered coat is pretty fantastic.
"Yay" for the sheath dress, and a very unique use of florals! I've never been a fan of the print, and it can sometimes look overwhelming when it's all over a gown. But here the pattern only partially covers the sheath dress, and helps create a feminine silhouette. I especially like the 1st look. It's very unusual, dramatic, and appropriate for day or night.
Another "yay," and this one for vintage inspired coats! The first one is an interesting spin on the classic trench. The double-breasted design is made from a deep blue fabric with a black lace overlay. Very unusual, and quite stunning. The second design is a simple tan "trapeze" style jacket, with oversized buttons. Very 60s.
I think the skirt shown here is so pretty, in a soft pale grey with a sheer overlay and bright flower appliques. It's kept subdued by the simple black top with the lace neckline. It's very feminine, youthful, and still sophisticated.
Are there any other great Pre-Fall 2012 collections I've missed? I've seen a couple of spring and summery lines that I'll probably share when those warmer seasons come along. I don't know about where you live, but here in New England we've been teased with days of spring for the last three months, and yet we're only just into February. Not out of the
Thank you all again so much for the feedback on my new page. I'll try and settle on a name really soon. ;)
